Life and Mindset Coach
Â
This is my Story
Hi there! I’m so glad you are here. I am a former classroom teacher, turned fulltime life and mindset coach. I have been a teacher and coach in different forms all the way back to when I was about 7 years old lining up my stuffed animals (and sometimes my little brother) to “teach” them.Â
Â
I found my true passion and gift about 10 years ago in a small town in Indiana while serving as the volunteer assistant coach for the local high school girls cross country team. I loved all the technical running details of coaching, but that didn’t compare to the privilege of teaching my girls about the mental aspects of the sport. It was mindset coaching that was instrumental to them being able to accomplish things they never thought possible. I had a front row seat to watch their confidence grow in ways that would last long after the running season was over. I didn’t realize it then, but that experience planted the seed that grew into the business I now have. Â
Â
The seed was planted, and I continued to say yes to every opportunity that came my way to coach runners from middle school all the way up to adults running their first 5ks and half marathons. I loved it. I had no idea that coaching could go beyond athletics. And that was fine because I was not the person I needed to be yet to be able to help people navigate the more complicated and complex problems of life. First, I needed to hit my own rock bottom and experience coaching, not from an athlete’s perspective, but from the perspective of someone who was fighting for their life. And that is exactly what happened.
Â
Six years ago if someone had told me that I would be living with so much joy and purpose I would not have thought it possible. My life had come crashing down around me in ways I never would have thought possible. I was devastated and living in unbearable internal pain. I carried a lot of shame about my situation. I was not alone, but because of my shame, I felt very lonely. This kept me from reaching out to get help. Until I couldn’t take it any longer. I kept praying to God, begging him to make everything better, to change our situation. I was sure that when the circumstances changed, the situation turned around, THEN I could have my life back I would feel so much better.Â
Â
But that is not what happened. The circumstances actually continued to get worse and I began to ask the question: How do I learn to be okay and rebuild my life if this doesn’t get better?
It was that question that led me to finding my first coach. Her name was Jane and I will forever be grateful to her. Jane taught me the tools I needed to rebuild my life. It was through working with her that I discovered that I COULD live a joyful, full life even when the circumstances were not what I had hoped for or worked toward. She taught me that I don’t have to wait for things to get better for me to experience happiness and live in peace. I began to rebuild my life in a very different way than I had expected to. Coaching gave me the tools to build my life and experience of my life from the inside out. I no longer needed the outside circumstances to change so that I could be happy. I stopped holding my breath and holding myself back. I gained the strength and perspective to finally begin to fully live my life with joy and purpose without needing my circumstances to change.Â
The impact that her coaching had on my life, the dramatic change that I experienced even though NOTHING changed with the outside circumstances is the reason I am so passionate about coaching others to teach them the same.
